JazzBeet – An International Jazz Competition in Bonn
Ludwig van Beethoven’s courage, curiosity, and musicality were the inspirations for the international jazz competition called JazzBeet, where innovative young artists from around the world can experiment and become part of a global musical network.
Encouragement and promotion are tremendously important for young musicians just beginning their careers. For this reason, Jazzfest Bonn initiated JazzBeet, an international competition made possible through the support of BTHVN2020 and Deutsche Post DHL Group. From 26 to 30 May 2020, six finalists will be invited to Beethoven‘s birthplace to compose and perform in the style of his revolutionary spirit. The aim of the competition is: Find your own voice, think outside the box, dare new things and have the courage to take artistic risks.
The members of the jury are:
Julia Hülsmann, Piano
Roger Hanschel, Saxophone
Ulrich Stock, Journalist Die Zeit
On Thursday, May 28 and Friday, May 29, three of the invited bands will present their programs to the jury in evaluation concerts. These concerts are open to the public and free of charge. A further highlight on both evenings is a musical encounter between the two jury members Julia Hülsmann and Roger Hanschel.
Free admission tickets for the evaluation concerts on 28 and 29 May at 7 p.m, are bookable online at www.bonnticket.de.
On 30 May 2020, the winning trio will perform in the Pantheon Theater as part of the final concert of Jazzfest Bonn 2020.
