Born in Brooklyn/New York in the 1940s, he devoted himself exclusively to classical music until the age of 13. It was only then that he discovered jazz and became a pioneer of improvisation and energetic keyboard virtuosos, open to classical music. He is convinced: “Between all musical styles there is a delicate balance between the prescribed material and spontaneity. Even a highly complicated, precisely notated model requires the soul and energy of the artist to give the composition breath and space in the concert. The smallest musical impulse can enliven a composition and lift it to a higher level.
